John J. Caccia, 88,
Jack was born in O'Boyletown, PA on Aug. 8, 1916, a son of the late Carlo and Esther Unthri Caccia. He worked in area coal mines in his youth and later drove truck for several years. He moved to Elmira Heights where he was employed by the American Bridge Works, retiring after over 35 years of service.
He married the former Elizabeth McCobin of Elmira on Feb. 5, 1984. They recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary. After retiring, Jack worked at Curly's Chicken House in Elmira for several years. They moved to Colley Township in 1988.
He was a member of St. Vladimir's Orthodox Church, Lopez, PA.
Survivors include: his wife Betty, at home; four sons and daughters-in-law: John, Jr. and Victoria Caccia of Elmira, NY, Joseph and Edda Caccia of Naperville, IL, Ronald and Sharon Caccia of Orlando, FL and James and Laura Caccia of Cincinnati, OH; step-children and spouse: Edward Jack Enright of Elmira, NY, William John and Cora Enright of Conway, SC; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Merico (Jim) and Margie Caccia of Elmira, NY, Freeman and Margie Caccia of Luzerne, PA; a sister: Mrs. Mary Fairchild of Allentown, PA; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers Orlando Caccia of Hampton, VA, Richard Caccia and Rudolph Caccia of Wilkes-Barre and a sister, Grace Sheaks of St. Mary's, OH.
Burial service will be held on Friday, Sept. 3 at 10 a.m. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, with Hieromonk Michael Thier, his pastor, presiding. Interment will be in St. Vladimir's Cemetery, Lopez.
Friends may call on Thursday, Sept. 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be a Parastas Service at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home.
