John Norman Redwing MacDonald, 57
John was born Jan. 6, 1947 in southwest Philadelphia, PA, a son of Thomas and Helen MacDonald. He was a graduate of Widner Memorial School for the Handicapped, Class of 1965. Upon graduating from Widner, John worked at the Philadelphia airport in the shipping department. He also worked in one of the most prestigious places in Philadelphia known as Jeweler's Row. John was a stone setter and worked with many different stones, gems, diamonds and pearls.
He was an avid outdoorsman; he particularly enjoyed deer hunting, leathermaking, Indian crafts and jewelry and ceramics. Attending Pow-Wows was also a favorite pastime of John's. He was very talented with the guitar and had a beautiful voice with which he sang all the favorites. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving are his parents, Thomas and Helen MacDonald of Homets Ferry; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Deborah MacDonald of Wyalusing, Thomas and Maria MacDonald of southwest Philadelphia; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bunny MacDonald and Luke Robinson of Wyalusing, Belle and Todd Wizelman of Homets Ferry; six nieces and nephews, Matthew, James, Amiee, Patty, Joseph and Melissa.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Sept. 5 at 4 p.m. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, with the Rev. Diane Prentice, pastor of the Wyalusing United Methodist Church, officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Towanda Memorial Skilled Nursing Unit, 1 Hospital Drive, Towanda, PA 18848.
