Linda L. Cook, 60,
Following graduation from Towanda High School in 1968, she attended Mansfield University in Mansfield. On Oct. 9, 1971, Linda married David E. Cook at the Wysox Presbyterian Church.
In early years, she was employed by Memorial Hospital in Towanda and the Towanda Area School District. In 1992, she began working with her husband in the operation of their gravel business until their retirement in 2007. Linda also provided care for children in her home for a number of years.
She attended the Laddsburg Community Church where she also taught Sunday School and was a former president of the Towanda Women's Aglow organization. She greatly enjoyed the ministry of sending greeting cards to others. A meticulous homemaker, she devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. Many family members and friends have enjoyed the gifts Linda made and shared through her creative efforts with crafts, knitting, crocheting and quilting and baking cookies. She will be remembered as a selfless person, who freely gave her time and abilities for the benefit of others.
Surviving are her husband of 39 years, David E. Cook at home; her children, Sean E. Cook and wife, Tara of Orwigsburg, Tammy Nevin and husband, Rod of Reading; grandchildren, Ethan and Sarah Nevin; her mother, Nannette Light of Wysox; sister, Joyce Warburton and husband, Robert of Jupiter, FL; special aunt, Shirley Wright of Towanda; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Cook of Wysox; sister-in-law, Joyce Mix and husband, Raymond of Cogan Station; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Light on Feb. 8, 1998; mother, June Howland Light on Nov. 9, 1954 and father-in-law, Ralph Marshall Cook.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, March 31, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda. The funeral service will be held Friday, April 1 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Perry officiating. Interment will follow in the Wysox Cemetery.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society, Bradford Unit, 1948 East Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701-3945 in Linda's memory.
