She enjoyed her family, working outdoors, playing cards, singing in the Manor Choir, plus many Manor activities.
Survivors include her three sons: Ronald (Evonne) Bates of Lime Hill, Gordon (Polly) Bates of Stevensville, Kenneth (Diane) Bates of Laceyville; a daughter, Joyce (John) Richards; a special aunt, Ina Mills; two sisters, Margie Shores of Rome and Beverly (Don) Manvell of Rome; a brother, Gary Bates of Little Meadows; a step-brother, Robert Bates of Ocala, FL and by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Simons and Lela VanSice Simons Bates; her husband, Wilferd Bates; a sister, Cleone Fox Foote; a brother, Carl Simons; three brothers-in-law, Jack Fox, Frank Foote and Llewellyn Shores; stepfather, William Bates, Sr. and by a step-brother, William Bates, Jr.
Friends and family are invited to call on Sunday, March 6 at the McHenry Funeral Home, 106 Church Street, Wyalusing, from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 4 p.m., with the Rev. Barry Ballard, pastor of the Wyalusing Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be on Monday, March 7, in the Stevensville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice in Mildred Bates's memory.
