Mildred J. Lippert, 87
Born in Dyberry Twp., PA, she was a daughter of the late john R. and Grace E. (Thomas) Lippert. Miss Lippert was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church in Honesale, PA. Her early education was at Beere School in Dyberry Twp., and she graduated from Nicholson High School. A college graduate, she earned a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Mansfield University. Her first teaching position was in a one-room school at Forest Lake. Following that, she taught at Hop Bottom and Dimock. Prior to retiring in 1979, she was employed as a teacher by Elk Lake School District, giving 42 years of dedicated service.
Miss Lippert was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Montrose Chapter No. 151, Beta Rho Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society and a former member of both the Montrose Garden Cub and the Monday Evening Club. A nature lover of birds, flowers and the environment, she spent summer sessions at Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology and took several trips on Questar Nature Tours. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy Taylor, Mabel Olver and Vivian Lippert; three brothers, Walter, Wayne and Raymond; a brother-in-law, A. Ralph Taylor of Elizabethtown and several cousins.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, Sept. 3 at 11 a.m. at the Bethany Cemetery, 431 Wayne Street, Honesdale.
