Morgan J. Davis
On Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, Morgan J. Davis of LeRaysville, PA died after a long, courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Born April 22, 1922 at the family farm, he was the son of George and Esther Morgan Davis. He was a 1940 graduate of LeRaysville High School.
Morgan and his brother Francis operated Davisland Farms, a century farm, for over 60 years. He was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman who owned and operated Morg’s Gun Shop for 45 years, He was a long-time NRA member and was also a licensed pilot.
He was a member of the Neath Welsh Congregational Church and was a member of the LeRay No, 471 F. & A.M., LeRaysville, for over 60 years.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mary Edith: daughters, Barbara (Steve) Gay, Tunkhannock, Diane L. Davis, Scranton; grandson, Morgan Charles Gay and wife, Leigh; granddaughter, Jonelle (Eric) Van Houten; great-grandchildren, Curtiss and Corben Gay, Christian and Meia Van Houten; brother, James and wife, Linda Davis; sister-in-law, Jane Davis; brother-in-law, Dave Rice, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by brother, Francis Davis and sister, Mary Davis Rice.
There will be a memorial service Sunday, Sept. 25 at 3 pm at the Neath Welsh Congregational Church, Neath, preceded by visitation from 1-3p.m. at the church. A private family burial service will be held at the Stevens Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Bartron-Myer Funeral Home, Inc., Montrose.
