Mr. Ralph E. Woodruff, 82

Mr. Ralph E. Woodruff, 82, of 506 Lacey St., Laceyville, PA, passed away at Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, after an illness. Born in Transue, near Laceyville, on Jan. 31, 1929, he was the son of the late Burt and Elizabeth Frisbie Woodruff. Growing up near Laceyville, Ralph was a lifelong resident of the Laceyville area.

He was a self-employed building contractor in the Laceyville, Meshoppen, Wyalusing and surrounding areas. He was also a self-employed quarryman, and for many years he was employed at Bendix Corp. in South Montrose. All of his life, Ralph loved socializing and being surrounded by his large family and his many friends. He also loved to hunt with his sons and enjoyed watching NASCAR racing.

Survivors include his wife, the former Pam Bowman of Laceyville; his six sons, Gary and his wife, Gene Anne Woodruff of Wyalusing; Glenn Woodruff of Meshoppen; Lloyd Woodruff of Meshoppen; Verne Woodruff of Laceyville; Tracy and his wife, Beth Woodruff of Wyalusing and Austin Woodruff at home in Laceyville; a daughter-in-law, Barb Woodruff of Wyalusing; 12 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Mrs. Marie VanDeMark of Laceyville, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Woodruff in May of 2008, and also five sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be held on Monday morning, Oct. 10 at 11 a.m. from the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Laceyville, with Rev. Charles Bishop of the Transue Community Church officiating. Interment will be in the Lacey St. Cemetery in Laceyville. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday evening, Oct. 9, from 5 to 8 p.m.
