Mrs. Gail Ann Christian Johnson, 69

Mrs. Gail Ann Christian Johnson, age 69, of RR2, Box 2418, Laceyville, PA, went home to be with her Lord suddenly on Friday morning, July 30, 2004 at her home.

Born in Scranton on Jan. 29, 1935, she was the daughter of the late George M. and Anna E. Ford Christian. Gail grew up in Clarks Summit and lived there until 1949 when her family moved to Laceyville (Black Walnut). Gail graduated from the Laceyville High School, Class of 1953.

After graduating from high school, Gail married Gerald Francis Johnson on June 14, 1953. For 48 years, she was a homemaker and housewife for her husband and their family. Gerald passed away on Oct. 23, 2001.

Gail was a very active member of the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church, the church choir, the United Methodist Women and was a member of the church administrative board. She was also a member of the Edinger Hill Ladies Aid Society. In her spare time, she enjoyed painting, ceramics and flower gardening. Gail took great pride in her family, enjoying her children and grandchildren, especially visiting them at their homes and their visits back to her home during their vacations and holidays.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Romaine, O.D. and Robbyn Johnson of Bethlehem and Scott and Jane Johnson of Chesapeake, VA; twin daughters and sons-in-law, Jeryl Ann and Brian Keefe of Danielsville and Christa Gail and Dennis Phillips of Rome; two sisters, Kay and husband, Paul Ackland of Waverly, NY and Gwen Burgess and long-time companion, Brian VanAuken of Laceyville; eight grandchildren, Dane and Lacey Johnson, Lucas and Miranda Johnson, Haylie Phillips and Caitlin, Conlan and Carson Keefe and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Laceyville, on Monday, Aug. 2 at 11 a.m., with Rev. E. Susan Wenner and Rev. Ann Blair, officiating. Interment was in the Lacey Street Cemetery in Laceyville. Family and friends called at the funeral home on Sunday, Aug. 1 from 6 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing, may make memorial donations to the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church Organ Fund, RR1, Laceyville, PA 18623.
