Rhea Ace, 85

Rhea Ace, 85, Tewksbury Hollow Road, Laceyville, PA passed away suddenly at home early Friday morning, Oct. 28, 2011. Her husband of 57 years, Francis, passed away Aug. 21, 2003. Born in Tuscarora Twp., Bradford County, on Sept. 25, 1926, she was the daughter of William and Geneva Brotzman.

Rhea worked at Dibble’s Supermarket in Laceyville for several years and in 1972 she and her husband Francis (Acey) purchased the Laceyville Hardware, which they operated until their retirement in 1987. In 1987, the store was purchased by their son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Donna Ace, the current owners. Mrs. Ace was a member of the Laceyville Business Association and was, until recently, an active member of the Oldest House in Laceyville.

She enjoyed cooking and baking for family, friends and neighbors and loved working in her flower and vegetable gardens. Most of all, Rhea enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Brian and Donna Ace of Laceyville; two daughters, Ms. Gail Ace Price of Harrisburg and Linda and her husband, Wade Stackhouse of Lake Carey; a sister, Pat of Montrose; a sister-in-law, Thelma Brotzman of Wyalusing; a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Lil Ace of State College; a brother-in-law, Howard Ace of Towanda; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Margo Ace of Rome; four grandchildren, Bret Hoyt and Corinne Sherman, both of Mt. Holly Springs, Ryan Stackhouse of Elizabethtown and Aaron Stackhouse of Austin, TX; three great-grandchildren, Kacey and Kara Sherman of Mt. Holly Springs and Mya Stackhouse of Elizabethtown; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Elston, Reed, Ward and Bill and sisters, Kate Brotzman Brown and Eloise Brotzman Nesslein.

At the request of the family, a private family funeral service will be held at their convenience at the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Laceyville. Interment will be at a later date in the Beaver Meadows Cemetery.
