Richard “Rick” Fuhrey of Buffalo, NY,
Richard “Rick” Fuhrey of Buffalo, NY, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2011 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born in Buffalo, NY on Oct. 3, 1960. He graduated from Elk Lake High School in 1978 and thereafter served in the United States Army for three years. After returning from military service, Rick worked for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department in Orlando, FL for 20+ years. He was an avid sports fan and especially loved his Buffalo Bills and NASCAR #24, Jeff Gordon.
Survivors include two daughters, Brooke Fuhrey of Daleville, VA and Alexis Fuhrey of Orlando, FL; his parents, William, Sr. and Barbara Fuhrey of Springville and Betty and Charles Pezzino of Depew, NY; two brothers and two sisters, William, Jr. and Samantha Fuhrey of Oxford, GA, Lori Fuhrey of Nicholson, Kristal and Joel Flower of Winchester, VA and Scott Fuhrey of Laceyville. He was a beloved uncle to Shane, Eva, Everett, Brody and Levi. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services and burial were in Buffalo, NY on Sept. 12 and 13. A memorial service will be held at the Springville United Methodist Church, Springville, on Friday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made in Rick’s name to the American Cancer Society.
