Roy R. Dailey, Sr., 74 of Meshoppen, PA died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011 at CMC, Scranton after an illness. He was born in Tunkhannock, son of the late Clarence and Elizabeth Newell Dailey. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, the former Wilma May Fenton in 2007; he was also preceded in death by a granddaughter Cheryl Ann Carrier.
He was a retired employee of Procter and Gamble, Mehoopany where he worked as a technician. He was a member of the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church and a graduate of Tunkhannock High School, class of 1955. He served with the United States Marines. He was a Deputy Game protection officer in Wyoming County for 25 years. He loved to spend time outdoors, and was especially happy when he was hunting or fishing. He loved to spend time with his family and traveled many miles to see his grandchildren participate in their activities.
He is survived by a daughter, Brenda M. Carrier and her husband, Ralph of Meshoppen; four sons, Roy, Jr. and his wife, Ann Marie of Jenningsville, Matthew of Meshoppen, Michael and his wife, Sheri of Meshoppen and Timothy and his wife, Shelly of Forkston; two sisters, Barbara Huff of Tunkhannock and Ramona Harbatt of New Jersey; nine grandchildren, David, Travis, Amelia, Damian, Brandon, Sarah, Noah, Alex and Myah; a great-grandson, David and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 15 at 11 a.m. at the Harding-Litwin Funeral Home, 123 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock. Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock.
