Sara S. Gary, 82
Sara S. Gary, 82, of Montrose, PA, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2011 at the Endless Mountains Health Systems, Montrose, after a brief illness. She was born in Towanda to the late Harry D. and Helen E. (Putnam) Shultz. Her husband of 33 years, Harold G. Gary, survives.
Survivors include her six children and their spouses, Paul and Karen Kilmer of Louisburg, NC, Lee and Lucille Kilmer of Ames IA, Betsy and Bryan Shirk of San Diego, CA, Joan and Tim Kitchen of Benton, PA, Lori Kilmer and Mr. Gale Culbert of Paulsho, WA, Ann and Richard Gary of Rush; six step-children and their spouses, Cynthia and Sherman Wooden of Montrose, Dana Irwin of San Jose, CA, B. Mark and Kristin Smith-Gary of Spring Hill, Jennifer and John Brotzman of Spring Hill, Stephen Gary of Camptown, Neil and Leigh Gary of Tulsa, OK; two sisters, Alice Lewis and Cynthia Wyckoff, both of Tennessee; brother and sister-in-law, Dyson and Marcia Shultz of Massachusetts; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Gary worked at Trehab prior to retirement. She was a former member of the Montrose Music Club and former member of the French Asylum United Methodist Church where she was the organist for many years. She was a member of the Montrose United Methodist Church and a member of its choir.
Sara enjoyed cross-stitch, sewing, knitting, flower gardening and camping.
A Memorial Service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14 at the Montrose United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jane M. Pykus officiating. Interment was in the Devine Ridge Cemetery, Rush Twp. Friends called on the family an hour prior to the service.
