Stewart W. Magee, Jr., 85

 

Stewart W. Magee, Jr., 85, of Laceyville, PA, died Friday evening, May 20, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Tunkhannock. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maude A. Barnes  Magee.

He was born in Laceyville on June 11, 1925, son of the late Stewart, Sr. and Kathrine Lyons Magee.

He was raised by his late grandparents  from the age of 11 months, Lafayette Monty and Elizabeth Wooten Magee.

Mr. Magee was employed by the PA Department of Transportation for 22 years and was a life-long farmer. He also was an active member with the Laceyville and Wyalusing fire companies. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and bingo, but his love was his great-great-granddaughters Abigail, Hailey and Rayia.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Billie Ann Bullock; a half-brother Dean Magee, and a half-sister, Lois Merryman.

He is survived by twin daughters, Ida Engleman of Florida and Iva Frankovsky of Scranton; one son, James Magee of Laceyville; sister-in-law, Jennie McMicken of Laceyville; half-sister, Ann Granger of Maryland; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great- grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 25 at 10 a.m. from Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Laceyville, with Pastor Pat Newhart officiating. Interment was in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Friends called at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m.

Memorial contributions can be made to either the Laceyville Fire and Ambulance Department or the Wyalusing Valley Volunteer Fire Department.
