PennDOT Closes Bridge in Tuscarora Township
PennDOT is closing a bridge on State Route 1002 (Underhill Road) in Tuscarora Township, Bradford County, for safety reasons.
The detour will direct traffic to SR 1007 (Spring Hill Road), SR 1003 (Steam Hollow Mill Road) and Route 367.
The bridge carries Underhill Road over a tributary to Fargo Creek, about 1.25 miles west of Route 367.
The bridge is being closed due to the condition of the stone abutments.
Currently the bridge is programmed for replacement in 2015. Further investigation will be conducted this week. The additional analysis will aid PennDOT in determining if any interim measures can be taken to reopen the bridge prior to its scheduled replacement.
