Wyalusing Valley Wine Festival Plans Shaping Up for Sept. 18

The Wyalusing Valley Wine Festival is selling advance tickets for its first of what is hoped will be an annual event on the afternoon of Sept. 18 between noon and 5 p.m. The festival will be held at the grounds of the Wyalusing Valley Museum Barn come rain or shine.

Pennsylvania wineries will be featured in this event whose proceeds benefit the Wyalusing Lions and Lioness and the Wyalusing Valley Museum. Participating will be:

—Bastress Mountain Winery, South Williamsport;

—Eagle Rock Winery, Laporte;

—Shade Mountain Winery, Middleburg;

—Maiolatesi Wine Cellar, Carbondale, and

—the Preate Winery in Old Forge.

Various brands from the wineries will be available for sampling and purchase, as well as food to go with it. Pre-event tickets will be on sale at $20, and that includes a sampling of all the wines and three food tickets. Tickets must be purchased by Sept. 10 in order to allow time for mailing. After this date, they will be held at the event site for pick-up at the festival.

If you wait until the event, tickets can be purchased for $24. There will also be special tickets available at $5 for those who do not wish to taste the wine but would like to partake in all else that is available, including food, entertainment, booths and displays. It's a great way to bring your under-21 friends and designated drivers so they can enjoy the festival, too

Providing music at the event will be the Swing Choir with a variety of music, the Wyalusing Adult Band and Wyalusing's Justin Kilmer, currently performing in summer theatre in the Poconos, who will be performing music from "Aladdin." There will also be a DJ, barbershoppers strolling the grounds to bring more harmony to the occasion, as well as guitar impresario, Frank Galante.

Organizations and agencies already signed up to participate with displays or demonstrations include: the Endless Mountains Visitors' Bureau, Endless Mountains Heritage Region, Bradford County Republican and Democratic Committees, the How-A-Mazing Corn Maze, Farmland Preservation Agency, Rienze Enterprises, Greater Wyalusing Chamber of Commerce, Blue Heron Art Gallery, the North Branch Land Trust and the LeRaysville Cheese Factory.

Aside from the hosting Wyalusing Valley Museum, participating historical societies and museums include the Bradford County Historical Society, the Home Textile Tool Museum in North Orwell, Sayre Historical Society, French Azilum, Inc. and Tioga Point Museum.

The Wyalusing Valley Wine Festival is located just east of Wyalusing off Rt. 6 and Rt. 2010 across from the Wyalusing Valley High School. Come and check out the grounds and the museum, including its barn and carriage house.
