Wyalusing Wine Festival Set for September 10
By Rick Hiduk
The eighth annual Wyalusing Wine Festival is set for Saturday, Sept. 10, from noon to 6 p.m. and will be held rain-or-shine on the grounds of the Wyalusing Valley Museum behind the big barn, along Wyalusing-New Albany Road (SR 2010).
Tickets are now on sale for the event, and proceeds will benefit the Wyalusing Lions and Lioness Clubs and the museum. Wine-tasters can take advantage of discounted tickets purchased in advance at the Wyalusing Valley Museum and at Ace Hardware, Route 6, Wyalusing. The cost is $20 in advance or $25 the day of the event. Designated drivers and patrons under 21 years old may attend the event for $5. Tickets may also be ordered by sending checks or money orders to Wyalusing Valley Wine Festival, PO Box 322, Wyalusing, PA 18853 or by sending an email to email@example.com prior to Friday, Sept. 9. Cash, checks, and money orders will be accepted for point-of-sale purchases.
The event is unique to the area in that only wines produced in Pennsylvania will be served. Participating wineries this year will include Antler Ridge, Bartolai, Benigna’s Creek, Capra Collina, Ferrone Family, Grovedale, Hidden Creek, Maiolatesi, Nimble Hill, Pickering, Sand Castle, and Shade Mountain wineries and vineyards.
Bus groups are welcome, and handicap-accessible parking will be available for those with proper vehicle designation. Pets will not be permitted on the grounds.
Event organizers encourage patrons to bring a designated driver (DD), who, like guests under the age of 21, will not be permitted to drink wine. Pennsylvania State Police help to patrol the area during the event, and anybody with a DD or “under 21” band who is seen tasting wine will be asked to leave the festival immediately.
The festival is funded in part by the Bradford County Room Tax Fund and the Endless Mountains Visitors Bureau.
