Police Briefs Gathered from the Barracks in Laporte, Towanda, Gibson and Tunkhannock
Patrick G. O'Rourke, 35, Montrose RR 5, died on Sept. 11 at 5:50 p.m. after he lost control of his 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle and hit a telephone pole on Kellum Rd., Choconut Township.
Drug Bust in Monroe Twp.
On Sept. 10, the Towanda Vice/Narcotics Unit and the Aviation Unit conducted an operation to eradicate an estimated $75,000 worth of marijuana plants from a private property in Monroe Township at 11 a.m. The Aviation Unit located all the plots and guided ground units to the drugs.
Mailbox Mangled in Dushore
An act of criminal mischief was reported in Cherry Township.
John and Donna Nye, Pough Road in Dushore, reported that between 9 p.m. on Sept. 7 and 6:30 a.m. the next morning, an unknown offender pulled their mailbox from the ground and struck it with a blunt object.
Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Pennsylvania State Police in Laporte at 570-946-4610.
Jeep Vandalized in Cherry Twp.
Mitch Pedro, 20, of Dushore, reported that all four tires and the vinyl roof were slashed and the paint was scratched on his 1997 Jeep Wrangler as it was parked in his driveway on Rt. 87. The act occurred between 5 p.m. on Sept. 9 and 11:45 a.m. on Sept. 10.

California Woman Crashes in New Albany
A crash occurred in New Albany on Sept. 6 at 2:40 a.m. as Sharon Lamb, of Temecula, CA, was traveling north on Rt. 220 when her Toyota drove onto the berm and back onto the highway. She then traveled across both lanes of traffic and struck the western embankment head-on. The Toyota then rolled once, coming to final rest on its roof. The Toyota sustained moderate damage.
Lamb was transported to Towanda Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.
Two-Car Collision; No Injuries
A two-vehicle accident occurred on Rt. 6 in Troy, west of Bronson Road, on Sept. 9 at 4:50 p.m. Nicholas Rockwell, 23, of Canton, stopped in the westbound lane in a 1999 Ford F-350. Jill Matson, 19, of Troy, was traveling west in a 1997 Dodge Avenger and failed to stop, striking the Ford in the rear.
Neither driver received injury. Western Alliance assisted at the scene.
Theft at Feed Mill Under Investigation
Management at Pennfield Feeds Mill, South Montrose, reported a loss of inventory which is currently being investigated.
Trespassing Complaint Lodged
A complaint by Robert Williams, state Rt. 1001, Thompson Township, landowner, regards neighbor James A. Norton who is using a waterway on the owner's land. The incident was sent to the magistrate for decision, according to the report of this Aug. 21 incident.
Hit and Run Reported
A 2003 Honda, owned by Sean Sheare, Union Dale, was parked at the Lift Inn parking lot, Lenox Township, and sustained damage when another vehicle, maybe a dark SUV such as a Blazer, was moved from its parking space.
Accident Reported in Auburn Twp.
Matthew Marshall, Meshoppen, lost control on a wet state Rt. 267, Auburn Township, on Sept. 8 at 3:15 p.m. and struck a guide rail and an embankment before his 1992 Saturn flipped on its side, blocking both lanes. The report gave no mention of injuries.
Pump and Run Under Investigation
Someone pumped $10 in gas at the Great Bend Sunoco Station, state Rts. 11 and 171, Great Bend Township, and left without paying. The vehicle is a dark blue or green Dodge Neon, with yellow decals on the side and a spoiler/wing on the trunk lid.
Charges to be Filed in Accident
Charles Clarkson, Harford, lost control of his vehicle and left the scene at state Rt. 1012/East Lake Road, New Milford Township. He will be charged with failing to keep the car on the road, according to the report.
Driver Injured in Hit and Run
Police say two vehicles sideswiped each other on Rt. 29 in Noxen on Sept. 11 at 6:45 a.m. Kathryn Pritchard, of Noxen, who was driving north on the road, fled the scene after the incident. The other vehicle was being driven by Anthony Traver, also of Noxen. No vehicle descriptions were given. Traver suffered minor injury; Pritchard was not injured.
Mehoopany Man Picked up on DUI
George Kinne, of Mehoopany, was arrested on Sept. 11 at 2:15 a.m. and charged with DUI. Kinne was stopped for a traffic violation along Rt. 87 in Mehoopany.
Accused Man Flees South
Derrick Lamont Nelson, a black man police say is 44 years old, five-feet seven-inches tall with black hair, brown eyes, of medium build and weight has fled Wyoming County following an incident in Northmoreland Township on Sept. 9.
Police say Nelson assaulted Karen Jackson at her residence on SR 2005 on Sept. 9 at 10:30 p.m. and caused her bodily injury. Jackson called the police and a warrant for Nelson's arrest on assault charges was issued. Police say Nelson may have fled to the Allentown or Wilkes-Barre area.
Injuries Reported in Accident
Susan Biancarelli-Leo, Forest City RR 1, was on state Rt. 247, Clifford Township, near the Panorama Golf Course and lost control of her 2004 Ford Explorer which left the road and struck several trees. She had minor injuries which were treated at CMC, Scranton.
Harmony Township Burglary Reported
Peter Schmeid, Bear Swamp Rd., off state Rt. 171, Harmony Township, had several items taken from a storage trailer located on his property between Aug. 12-22.
Wanted Person Spotted in Bridgewater Twp.
Michael Disinger, Lowell, FL, was wanted in the state of Florida for a parole violation. He was located in Fiorentino Quarry, Township Rt. 527/Sterling Rd., Bridgewater Township. He was taken into custody without incident.
Someone broke into a pole barn at the residence of Daniel Ricci, Coleman Rd., Township 579, Bridgewater Township, and removed a Polaris Ranger 4X4 ATV, green with white top, dump body, brush guard, winch and plow set-up.
Motorcyclist Injured in Accident
A juvenile was operating a Xing-Fu motorcycle (off-road) and received moderate injuries when the motorcycle was traveling on the wrong side of the road and collided head-on with a 1995 Saturn driven by Zachary Smith, Clifford Township. Smith was not injured in this Aug. 21 incident.
Criminal Mischief Reported at Speedway
Penn Can Speedway, state Rt. 171, Oakland Township, reported that after a race on Sept. 3, an unknown male smashed five windows at the speedway ticket booth.
Mailbox Damaged by Explosive
Someone placed a plastic bottle with an explosive device into a mailbox owned by Sharon Soden, Little Ireland Rd., Thompson Township. The device exploded, causing damage to the mailbox.
Truck Batteries Stolen
An investigation continues into the theft of truck batteries which were stolen from a vehicle at CGE Environmental in the parking lot of the business on Meshoppen Creek Rd., Bridgewater Township.
