Auto Racing: Tittle Sweeps WVMP Microsprint Features
After a two-week hiatus, including time off for the Labor Day weekend and last week’s devastating flood, Wyalusing Valley Motorsports Park roared to life on Sept. 17-18 for the Audrey Rosengrant Memorial Weekend.
Longtime WVMP Microsprint driver Jordan Tittle swept both the 270 and 600 features in Sunday’s small car segment of the two-day event at the Homets Ferry facility.
In the 270 feature, the three-time defending track champion led the race flag-to-flag. J.J. Uliana and Pat Bealer completed the top three.
Bobby Butler led the first 27 laps of the 600 feature until Tittle made the winning pass. Chad VanHorn was second, followed by Butler.
Ben Whitaker dominated the Allstar Slingshot feature, crossing the line ahead of Aaron Henneforth and Dalton Maynard.
Alex Shaffer held off Kamdin Maby to win the Junior Slingshot feature.
Joel Smith won the Stage One Modified feature over Kurt Bettler and Kyle Strohl.
On Saturday, the kart portion of the weekend also provided good racing.
Destiny Powell won the Rookie Purple finale over Connor Davis and Doug Newbigging.
Matt Addonna took the Novice Blue checkers ahead of Seth Anderson and Jacob Doyle.
Ryan Funk won the Sportskids feature. Keith Lamphere and Lucas Bahr rounded out the top three.
Nick Funk led Jason Bahr and Doug Lantz to the finish of the Sportsmen feature.
Rob Bahr took Clone honors, holding off Tyler Chapman and Mike Ely.
Cal Snyder edged out his son, Colt Snyder, in the Flathead feature. David Perry was third.
Josh Garbera defeated Bob Coveney in the Animal feature.
The track will close out the season on Saturday, Sept. 24, with the season championship night, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Penn Can Speedway
At Susquehanna, PA, on Sept. 16, Brett Tonkin won the Modified feature on season championship night. Kevin Hartnett was second, followed by Darwin Greene.
Dan Snyder won the Late Model feature over Tracy Gregory and Paul Strohl.
In the Sportsman feature, Mike Nagel, Jr. took the checkers over Adam McGeorge and Alex Stanton.
Shane Wolf, Jr. won the Street Stock feature over Ken Sparks, Jr. and Ryan Stone.
Nick Grist beat out Joe Warner and Andy Brigham in the Four Cylinder finale.
Rob Warner won the Factory Stock feature over Gary Cleveland and Ted Mills, III.
The 2011 track championships went to Kevin Hartnett (Modified), Tracy Gregory (Late Model), Mike Nagel, Jr. (Sportsman), Shane Wolf, Jr. (Street Stock), Andy Brigham (Four Cylinder) and Rob Warner (Factory Stock).
On Sept. 18, four divisions competed on Super Sportsmsan Sunday.
Anthony Perrego won the open Sportsman feature over Kevin Jordan and Matt Janczuk.
In the crate Sportsman finale, Mike Nagel, Jr. took the checkers over Jeff Crambo and Alex Stanton.
Bob Buono won the Street Stock feature over Brenton Miller and Harry Marvin, III.
Nick Grist won the Four Cylinder feature over Dave Husney and Kenny Underwood.
