College Roundup: Baptist Bible Softball Completes Spring Trip

The Baptist Bible softball team, including Elk Lake graduates Karin Mowry and Kim Caines, traveled to Myrtle Beach, SC, for a four-day series of doubleheaders March 14-17.

In a 14-9 loss to Keystone College on March 14, Mowry had two hits, two stolen bases and scored a pair of runs, while driving in one run.

She added a single and two runs in a 9-0 win over Hilbert in the second game that day.

On March 15, Pikeville defeated Baptist Bible, 14-7, and Cumberlands downed the Lady Defenders, 7-1.

Mowry had one hit and two runs against Pikeville and belted a pair of hits in the second game.

On March 16, Baptist Bible swept a doubleheader with Becker, winning the first game, 5-4, and the second, 13-1.

In the opener, Mowry had two hits, a walk, a run and two stolen bases. She added a single and a double in the nightcap, while scoring two runs and driving in one.

Caines scored a run.



Sarah Hoffman

Hoffman, a Wyalusing Valley graduate and member of the Susquehanna softball team, worked one and a third scoreless relief innings in a 7-1 loss to The College of New Jersey on March 19. She gave up just two walks.

On March 22, Hoffman pitched a complete game in a 5-1 win over Dickinson. She scattered eight hits and five walks while fanning three batters.



Glenn Bell

Bell, a Wyalusing Valley graduate and member of the Shippensburg track team, finished fifth in the javelin at the Lynchburg Invitational on March 19 with a throw of 182 feet.



Mike Martin

Martin, a Wyalusing Valley graduate and member of the Mansfield baseball team, pitched two innings of relief in a 6-4 loss to Wilmington on March 22. He allowed two hits and had one strikeout.
