Elk Lake Boys Whip NEB


The Elk Lake boys’ basketball team cruised to a 64-21 win over Northeast Bradford on Dec. 13.

After exploding out to a 37-11 halftime lead, the Warriors, now 1-1, put up 22 more points in the third quarter to seal the victory.

Rob Heft paced the Warriors with 20 points. Tyler Arnold and Pete McGee each added nine.

Brett Goodwin led Northeast Bradford with 11 points.

On Dec. 9, Carbondale defeated Elk Lake, 59-56, in the annual Red Wallace Game.

Heft paced the Warriors with 26 points. Nick Dudock added 14 markers.


Girls’ Basketball

The Elk Lake girls defeated Susquehanna, 59-43, in the Tunkhannock Kiwanis Tournament consolation game on Dec. 10.

Casey Tyler led Elk Lake with 12 points. Meghan Bush and Sara Kwiatkowski each netted 11.

The Lady Warriors lost to G.A.R. in the tournament opener on Dec. 9, 35-31.

Bush paced Elk Lake with 14 points.

Tunkhannock won the tournament with a 56-25 win over G.A.R.

The Lady Tigers defeated Susquehanna, 70-27, in Friday’s other semifinal.



On Dec. 13, Dallas defeated Elk Lake, 45-24.

Frank Delesky pinned Dallas’s Jordan Visnesky in 1:05 of their 132-pound bout. Derrick Smith added a 4:37 fall over Zach Macosky at 145.

Elk Lake’s Aaron O’Brien and Clark Fuller received forfeits at 220 and 285, respectively.

Dallas received falls from Dominick DeGrabba (113), Eric Young (126) and Ryan Kozloski (170). DeGrabba downed Gianni Ferrari in 38 seconds. Young stopped Blaise Cleveland in 1:44. Kozloski pinned Jared Curry in 4:27.

Eric Roccograndi (152), Bill Dixon (160) and Ryan Monk (195) received forfeits for the Mountaineers.

At 120, Jimmy Caffrey decisioned Elk Lake’s Mason Maye, 2-0. Steven Mingy added a 7-3 win over Dan Daly at 138. Dominic Oliveri outlasted Isaiah Ofalt, 11-9, at 182.
