Elk Lake Golfers Split Opening Matches
The Warriors' only win came on Derek Johnston's two-up win over Kyle Adriance.
Montrose swept the other individual results as Chris Maxey downed Tim Jones, five and three; Nick Harasymczuk defeated Kirk Lunger, four and three; Devlin Conrad dropped Kyle Karpich, four and three; Dennis Stranburg edged Alex Kipar, two and one, and Jeff Evans defeated Christina Richardson, five and four.
In Better-Ball scoring, Maxey and Harasymczuk downed Jones and Lunger, four and three; Adriance and Conrad stopped Johnston and Karpich, two and one, and Stranburg and Evans defeated Kipar and Richardson, four and three.
Conrad was the medalist for the day with a 39 on the front nine.

On Aug. 26, the Warriors opened the 2004 season with a convincing win over the Chargers.
Lunger shot a nine-hole total of 43 to lead the Warriors. Lunger defeated Larry Perozzi, five and three, in match play and teamed with Karpich to down Perozzi and Jerry McMyne, two and one, in Better-Ball play.
Other Elk Lake winners in match play included Jones, two and one, over John Jordan; Kipar, five and four, over Danielle Mancuso; Karpich, four and three, over McMyne, and Johnston, three and one, over Lincoln Gabriel. Carbondale's Mitchell Pope downed Richardson, five and three.
In Better-Ball, Jones and Kipar downed Jordan and Mancuso, five and four, and Richardson and Johnson defeated Pope and Gabriel, one-up.
