Lady Rams Even Soccer Record
Wyalusing Valley’s girls’ soccer team evened its record at 2-2 with wins over Wellsboro and Williamson and a loss to Athens.
Athens 6, Wyalusing 2
At Wyalusing, on Sept. 19, Liz Keeney scored off a pair of penalty kicks for the Lady Rams.
Athens had goals from Emily Patton, Meghan Hurley (2), Mackenzie Warner, Kiersten Horton and Christin Dunkling.
Emily Casterline had six saves for Athens, which outshot the Lady Rams, 13-7.
McKenzi Millard had five saves for Wyalusing.
Athens won the junior varsity game, 1-0.
Wyalusing 6, Williamson 0
At Tioga, PA, on Sept. 16, Paighton Martin scored twice and handed out a pair of assists for Wyalusing.
Kaci Woznicki, Ally DeVoir, Lauren Chadwick and Courtney Eberlin also scored.
For Martin, DeVoir and Woznicki, it was their first career goals.
Keeney added a pair of assists. Chadwick, Kasey DeVoir, Jordan Armitage and Kayleen Sutton also had assists.
All of Wyalusing’s goals were in the first half.
Millard picked up the win in goal. Courtney Larson and Lily Carter also had time in net. Larson had one save.
Wyalusing outshot Williamson, 30-1, and had a 4-0 corner-kick advantage.
Vanessa Earle made 24 saves for Williamson.
Wyalusing 2, Wellsboro 1
At Wyalusing, on Sept. 14, Sutton’s goal at 34:00 of the second half was the game-winning goal.
Ally DeVoir and Eberlin assisted on the game winner.
Kasey DeVoir opened the scoring at 28:26 of the first half off assists from Sydney Snyder and Woznicki. It was DeVoir’s first career goal.
Wellsboro tied the match at 38:58 of the second half on a goal by Mikayla Palmer-Bacon. Lauren Bleggi assisted on the play.
Wyalusing held a 9-8 edge in shots and a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Millard had seven saves for the Lady Rams.
Sherrie Hovis made seven stops for Wellsboro.
