Leo Club Holds Basketball Tournament

The Wyalusing Valley High School Leo Club held a three-on-three basketball tournament on April 16.

Four teams each of third-and-fourth graders and fifth-and-sixth graders vied for the two divisional titles in the competition.

Each team played each other twice to decide the divisional champions.

Delamarter Devils, including Colton Cooley, Brandon Dake and Trent Nickeson, claimed the third-and-fourth grade title.

Thunder Kitties, consisting of Jonathan Morrison, Will Martin and Paige Robinson, won the fifth-and-sixth grade title.

A hoop shoot competition was also held. Cooley was the third-and-fourth grade winner. Morrison claimed fifth-and-sixth grade honors. Mitchell Pickett won the open competition.

The tournament’s goal was to raise funds for this year’s Relay for Life. It raised approximately $200.

The Leo Club members volunteered for all aspects of the tournament, including selling tickets, running the concession stand, scorekeeping, running the clock and refereeing, among other activities.
