Married Couple Wins Memorial Day Golf Tournament
Andrew Hill and his wife, Melissa Hill, teamed up to take first flight honors in the Hurley’s Memorial Day Classic at the Towanda Country Club on May 29.
The Hills combined to fire a 65, edging the team of Jay Vasil and Frank Ritsko, who shot 66. Dan Kaminsky and P.J. McGuire also shot a 66, but fell to third on the tie-breaker.
A total of 41 teams hit the Wysox course in the two-person scramble tournament.
The team of Mark Moody and Bob Root took second-flight honors with a score of 73, winning tiebreakers over Ed Knolles and Clarke Davis and the team of Peter Aquilio and T. Thompson.
Ron Powers and Al Tice won the third flight with a score of 76. Roger Hemenway and Nate Hemenway were second with a score of 77. Finishing third, also with a 77, were Tim Clark and Jim Wojcak.
In the fourth flight, John Bradley and Jim Smith cruised to victory with a 71, two strokes ahead of runners-up Brent Raupers and Mike Fox, who shot 73. Dave Parsons and Ed Gallew were third, also with a 73.
