NEB Student Wins Red Dress Run
Northeast Bradford student Sam Williams won the Red Dress Run at Maine-Endwell High School on June 22.
The race, which raises money for the Crime Victims Assistance Center in Broome County, NY, has a unique twist. All the competitors—males included—have to wear a red dress in the race.
Williams completed the race in 16:46 to claim the title of First Frock Male.
Danielle Brenon was the First Frock Female with a time of 19:59.
Other special awards were presented among the 135 runners, who raised over $900 for the event.
They were: Greatest Gams: Dave Buchta; Most Desperate Housewife: Mimi Dewing; Most Creative Coiffure: Adam VanBuren; Male Most in Touch with His Feminine Side: Will Andres; Best Buns: Emily Piza-Taylor; Most Cleverly Coordinated Ensemble: Leon Jicha, and Finest Frock: Parker Gennett.

At Gouldsboro State Park, on June 18, Rich Burgender won the fourth race in the season series with a time of 38:53. Christopher Allman was second in 40:46, and Tunkhannock’s Brian Thomas was third in 42:09.
Jaclyn Shokey won the women’s race in a time of 43:16, followed by Nadalie Solomon in 44:14 and Jess Dymun in 47:29.
