Five Mile Point Hosts ROC Races Kenny Hammond won the Race of Champions Sportsman feature at Five Mile Point Speedway on Sunday, April 10, beating out runner-up James Cornell by two car lengths. Sammy Piazza, Brad Szulewski and Jeff Crambo rounded out the top five. In the Race of Champions Street Stock feature, Brenton Miller took advantage of Denny Decker’s flat tire on the last lap to take the checkered flag. Bob Buono, Rich Talada, Jason Butler and Dave Pope completed the top five. Decker, who had been leading when his tire went down, finished sixth. Butch Getz won the 600 c.c. Modified feature. The Lightning Cat feature was postponed due to rough track conditions. Sunday Mixed League Continues Played continued on April 10 in the Sunday Mixed League at Starlite Lanes in North Towanda. The team standings through Sunday’s play are as follows: Hillside 83-29; R&N Hunsinger 70.5-41.5; E&G 64.5-47.5; B&L 53.5-58.5 and Nichols 46.5-65.5. Individual highlights included: Women’s High Single: L. Latini 172 and 163, N. Hunsinger 163 and D. Nichols 157; Women’s High Triple: L. Latini 489, D. Nichols 425 and G. Mosier 404; Men’s High Single: E. Latini 215 and 181, E. Mosier 208 and 192 and C. Nichols, Jr. 176; and Men’s High Triple: E. Latini 584, E. Mosier 558 and B. Mosier 506. Elk Lake Wrestlers Honored Elk Lake senior Devin Fiorentino and sophomore Mason Maye were voted to the Lackawanna League Wrestling All-Star Division II second team, in voting by the league coaches. The Division II first team included Western Wayne’s Evan Decker, Zach Jones, Casey Fuller and Joseph Ingaglio; Blue Ridge’s Zach Edwards and Dalton Church; Scranton Prep’s Pat Creedon; Valley View’s Tyler Chesko and Mike Galantini; Susquehanna’s Nick Vales and Tom Maby; and Lackawanna Trail’s Chris Dixon, Eric Laytos and Marvess Rosiak. Joining Fiorentino and Maye on the second team were Western Wayne’s Morgan Fuller, Raphael Ingaglio, Beau Fuller, Garret Ensin, Matt Rosensweet and Josh Harrison; Blue Ridge’s Ed Gorick; Susquehanna’s Troy Maby; Scranton Prep’s Chris Donnelly; Montrose’s Zach Thorne and Lackawanna Trail’s Caleb Darling. Lady Ram JVs Defeat Sayre The Wyalusing Valley junior high softball team improved to 2-0 with a 9-2 win at Sayre on April 11. Wyalusing pitchers Kelly Clark and Kaitlyn Faulkner combined for 19 strikeouts in the game. Ciera Holland paced the Lady Rams with four hits, including a pair of doubles. She drove in a pair of runs. Faulkner had three hits, including a double, and two RBIs. Brittany Smith and Kali Nesslein each had a hit and drove in a run. Casey Fox singled. Sayre’s Maria Servedia had a home run.
