WVHS Sports Physicals Slated
Sports physicals for Wyalusing Valley athletes will be held in the high school nurse’s office on Friday, Aug. 5 for students with last names starting with A through K. Students whose names begin with L through Z should report on Thursday, Aug. 11. The times for both days are 9 a.m. through 2 p.m.
All students planning to participate in a fall sport must have a physical prior to the start of practice.
Students are asked to pay their activity fee at the time of their physical. The fee is $40 for ninth through 12th graders and $25 for seventh and eighth graders. No one will be allowed to get the physical or begin practice without paying the activity fee first. Students who were in the free or reduced lunch program during the 2010-11 school year are exempt from the fee.
Summer Track Meet Scheduled
The Wyalusing Track Booster Club will host a Summer All-Comers track meet today (June 30) at Peterson Stadium. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. with action starting at 6. There is a $1 entry fee for each event.
Events include 50-meter dash, 100-meter dash, 1600-meter run, 400-meter run, 200-meter dash, 800-meter run and a 3200 run. Field events include long jump, triple jump, high jump, pole vault, shot put and javelin.
Age-groups include 5-under, 6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-15, 16-17 and 18-up.
A second meet is also scheduled for July 14.
YMCA Volleyball Action Continues
Wyalusing defeated Troy 1, 25-14, 25-11, in the second week of YMCA high school volleyball action on June 21. In other results, Towanda defeated Canton, 18-25, 25-23, 15-10; North Penn downed Northeast Bradford 1, 25-18, 27-25; Mansfield dropped North Penn, 25-17, 25-15, and Troy 2 defeated Northeast Bradford 2, 25-8, 25-10.
YMCA Softball Play Underway
The Bradford County YMCA Adult softball program is underway with competition in both the Modified and Coed divisions.
In Modified action through the first two weeks of play, the scores were as follows: DA Nolt 14, Hanover Engineers 6; Finlan’s 24, CHK Energy 9; Towanda Iron and Metal 7, Walker’s Dairy Farm 6; KC Signs 16, Walker’s Dairy Farm 1; Towanda Iron and Metal 12, Finlan’s 11; Walker’s Dairy Farm 17, Hanover Engineers 1; Finlan’s 8, KC Signs 5; Towanda Iron and Metal 16, Hanover Engineers 0; KC Signs 16, CHK Energy 6; Finlan’s 8, Walker’s Dairy Farm 7, and Towanda Iron and Metal 25, DA Nolt 2.
