Wyalusing Hosts Wrestling Tourney

Team Wyalusing hosted a dual-meet wrestling tournament on July 9, finishing second with a record of 4-1.

Among the teams competing were Lewis County (NY), Pin2Win (NY), Canandaigua (NY), Williamson/Addison and Muncy. The competition included several state place winners and two champions.

Wyalusing’s roster included Creighton Edsell, Collin Edsell, Josh Haley, Justin Haley, Brandon Kelley, Chad Vermilya, Ryan Hart, Zack Green, Tim Kuntz, Joey Champluvier, Tyler Thompson, Dan Frankenfield, Anthony Clark and Clayton Force.


WVHS Thinclads Place at Meet

Three Wyalusing Valley track athletes competed in the Region 2 Junior Olympics meet at California University of Pennsylvania in June.

Erika Huffman won the Young Women steeplechase in a time of 9:29.07, followed by Savannah Schools in 9:39.60. Huffman also finished third in the 800 with a time of 2:26.76.

Jessica Carr was second in the Intermediate pole vault with a height of 8-11.5. She was also eighth in the long jump with a distance of 11-7.75.


Flag Football League Forming

The Bradford County Branch YMCA is accepting teams for its flag football league, which will begin play on Sunday, Aug. 21. Play will run into November for the league, which is for adults 18 years or older.

YMCA Adult Softball Results Listed

Action continued for the past couple weeks in the YMCA Adult Softball Leagues—Modified and Co-Ed.

In Co-Ed action through July 6, Canton Grill defeated Cargill, 12-6; Williams Lubricants downed M.R. Dirt, 23-22; Flynn’s Energy downed D&R Steel, 15-0; Fulmer’s defeated D&R Steel, 15-4; Canton Grill dropped Wyalusing Family Chiropractic, 9-7: Fulmer’s defeated Cargill, 16-6; Fuzzy dropped Overpeck’s, 18-7; Canton Grill defeated Williams Lubricants, 13-5, and Flynn Energy edged Fulmer’s 8-7.

Modified results through July 7 included: Finlan’s 16, Hanover Engineers 1; Walker’s Dairy Farm 17, Chesapeake Energy 2; Towanda Iron and Metal 24, Chesapeake Energy 4; KC Signs 22, DA Nolt 9; KC Signs 20, Hanover Engineers 0, and KC Signs 10, Walker’s Dairy Farm, 10-7.


Volleyball Action Continues

Play continued on July 5 in the YMCA High School Volleyball League.

Canton swept North Penn, 25-12, 25-10; Troy 2 defeated Towanda, 25-15, 25-21; Mansfield dropped Troy 1, 25-16, 25-1, and Northeast Bradford 1 defeated Northeast Bradford 2, 25-19, 25-16.
