YMCA Hoop League Forming
The Bradford County Branch YMCA is accepting signups for its third through sixth grade basketball league, which will begin play on Nov. 12. All boys and girls from the surrounding areas (not limited to the Towanda area) are eligible to participate in the league. League play will last approximately eight weeks.
Participation fees are $20 per child for YMCA members and $30 per child for non-members. Scholarship assistance is available as YMCA turns no one away due to an inability to pay.
A preseason mini-camp for third through sixth graders interested in a “refresher course” to improve skills and meet teammates will be held, beginning Saturday, Oct. 29 and concluding on Wednesday, Nov. 9. Coaches will have an opportunity to view players’ skills and interactions before team selections are made. The mini-camp is free to players registered for the league on or before Oct. 28. There will be a fee for the mini-camp for those not pre-registered in the league of $10 for YMCA members and $20 for non-members.

Wyalusing A Team Outlasts Towanda
The Wyalusing Youth Football and Cheerleading hosted Towanda at Peterson Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 22, with the locals winning a wild 47-34 decision in the A game to remain undefeated. In other games, Wyalusing won the flag football game, 35-7, but lost in both the B game, 19-12, and the C game, 19-6. A Miniature Bronze Helmet was presented to the winning team after each game.
On Sunday, Oct. 30, Wyalusing travels to Wellsboro to conclude the regular season. The games were postponed in September because of the flooding in the area. Game time is 11:15 a.m.
