Towanda Drivers Dominate at Tioga

A trio of Towanda-area drivers claimed feature wins at Tioga Motorsports Park on Saturday, Aug. 28.

Billy Maynard of Wysox led flag-to-flag to claim the Sunoco Modified feature. Maynard announced his retirement at the end of the year during the victory lane ceremonies.

Towanda's Wayne Lent won the B-Modified feature.

John Maynard of Monroeton captured the Factory Stock feature.

Other winners at Tioga included R.J. Zacharias in Street Stocks and Justin Petcosky in Legends.

Action continues at Tioga on Saturday in six classes, starting at 4 p.m.



Redline Raceway

At Granville on Aug. 27, eight features, including three make-up races from the rain-shortened Aug. 20 program, were run.

In the make-up features, the winners were Don Potter in Minis, Dale Baldwin in Street Stocks and Steve Hartman, Jr. in IMCA Modifieds.

Mike Schane captured the Modified feature during the regular program. The other winners included Eddie McKernan in Street Stocks, Terry Petrobowski in Pure Stocks, Ray Hyer in Minis and Larry Robbins in IMCA Modifieds.



Chemung Speedrome

At Chemung, NY, on Aug. 27, Dan Kurzejewski captured the B-Modified feature.

Tony Jilson won the Street Stock feature. Wyalusing's Paul Johnson finished third.

Other winners included Paul Gush in a Four-Cylinder make-up feature, Ray Marshall in the regularly-scheduled Four-Cylinder feature, Matt Priscott in Legends and Brandon Ameigh in Speedrome Juniors.



Penn Can Speedway

At Susquehanna, PA, on Aug. 27, eight features filled the schedule as three races from the Aug. 20 rained-out program were made up.

Wade Decker won the Mike Petrilak Memorial for Super Stocks.

Other race winners from the make-up races included Jamie Griffiths in Late Models and Chris Weaver in Modifieds.

On the regular program, Rick Virkitis won the Modified feature.

Other winners included Al Coy in Late Models, Brian Decker in Sportsman, Tracy Gregory in Super Stocks and Chris Wood in Pure Stocks.

The track will hold its season championships this Friday with the track championships crowned. Also included on the schedule will be make-up races in Sportsman and Pure Stock divisions.



Five Mile Point Speedway

At Kirkwood, NY, on Aug. 28, Joel Batzel won the Modified feature.

Other winners included Tim French in Sportsman, Chris Strohl in Street Stocks, Gary Dence in UMP Modifieds, Art Darling in Pure Stocks and Steve Dechow in Figure Eights.

Saturday, the track will crown its season champions with a full program, including the Legends cars and a 50-lap Big Block/Small Block Modified feature. Racing begins at 6 p.m.
