WVHS Football:Ram JVs Shutout Sayre
Dylan Otis and Jake Minturn each scored twice and Ethan Ace added another touchdown as Wyalusing Valley defeated Sayre, 32-0, at Lockhart Street Bowl on Monday, Oct. 31.
Wyalusing’s defense forced a pair of turnovers that resulted in scores and held Sayre to just four first downs in the shutout victory.
Otis gave the Rams the lead with a two-yard run with 25 seconds in the first quarter, capping an eight-play, 76-yard march. Otis kicked the extra point.
After a scoreless second quarter, the Rams added a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter.
Jeremy Allyn thwarted Sayre’s onside-kick attempt to open the stanza, returning the ball to the Redskin 25.
Three plays later, Otis scored on a three-yard run. His extra-point gave Wyalusing a 14-0 lead with 8:49 on the clock.
Otis intercepted a pass on Sayre’s ensuing possession.
Minturn capped the 42-yard, 10-play march with a one-yard run with 3:15 left in the third quarter.
Ace scored on an eight-yard run with 5:41 left in the game, capping a 52-yard, eight-play drive for a 26-0 Ram lead.
Brandon Kelley recovered a Sayre fumble on the Redskin 14, setting up Minturn’s ensuing touchdown.
Allyn booted the extra point.
“This was as complete a game as we’ve played all year,” Ram coach Brent Trowbridge said.
Wyalusing improved to 3-4, overall, including back-to-back shutouts.
The Rams will host Towanda at Peterson Stadium on Monday, Nov. 7, starting at 6 p.m. in the season finale for both squads.
