WVHS Girls' Basketball: Lady Rams Earn All-NTL East Honors

Three Wyalusing Valley girls were voted to the Northern Tier League East all-star basketball squads in recent voting by the coaches.

Junior Alexis Daly was named to the second team, while seniors Gabby Edsell and Lindsay Schulze were third-team selections.

Laci Holdren, a junior, made the honorable mention list.

Daly led the Lady Rams, who finished the year with an 11-12 record, including a 6-6 league mark, with 11 points per game. She also pulled down a team-high 144 rebounds. Daly also had 50 steals, 24 blocks and 20 assists.

Edsell averaged 8.7 points per game. She also led the team in blocks with 51. Edsell pulled down 104 rebounds, handed out 23 assists and made 39 steals.

Schulze averaged 7.9 points per game. She made 41 three-point field goals. Schulze also had 34 steals, 25 rebounds, 16 assists and three blocks.

Holdren, who averaged 5.7 points per game, had a team-high 61 assists as point guard. She also had 102 steals, which led the Lady Rams. In addition, Holdren grabbed 42 rebounds and made six blocks.

Sayre's Elizabeth Higley was named the league's Most Valuable Player.

Sayre and Towanda, which finished first and second, respectively, in the league, dominated the first team, garnering all the selections.

Joining Higley on the first team for the Lady Redskins were Megan Kyc and Mollie Robinson.

Towanda's first-teamers included Darien Lantz, Kylee Sutton and Alison Wickwire.

Joining Daly on the second team were Athens' Monica Dougherty and Christin Dunkling and Sayre's Tara Banfield and Hannah Robinson.

On the third team with Edsell and Schulze were Canton's Rebecca Machmer, Northeast Bradford's Kelsey Carlsen and Troy's Auburn Jones.
