WVHS Spikers Defeat Cowanesque

 

The Wyalusing Valley girls’ volleyball team went 1-2 during the past week, defeating Cowanesque Valley and losing to Canton and Towanda.

 

Towanda 3, Wyalusing 0

At Wyalusing, on Sept. 20, the Lady Knights swept Wyalusing, 25-19, 25-14, 25-19.

Erika Huffman had four points, 11 digs, eight assists, eight kills and a block.

Erin Dean-Swank made eight kills and three digs.

Laci Holdren added three points, four digs, three assists, a kill and a block.

Elesha Schulze had three points, an ace, six digs, two assists, four kills and three blocks.

Jessica Carr had four points, two digs, two kills and three blocks.

Christina Hons had one point, three digs and three assists.

Veronica Morrison had seven points, an ace, three digs, four kills and four blocks.

Cassie Nedley added three points, two aces and three digs.

For Towanda, Alysha Grimes had 16 kills and 29 assists. Alaina Wickwire had 10 digs. Tori Welliver made 19 kills. Hailey Innocenzo had 10 digs.

Towanda also won the junior varsity game, 25-15, 25-17.

For Wyalusing, Bailey Smith had six points, two digs and a kill.

Delana Szemple added six points, an ace, two digs, an assist and four kills.

Alicia Tewksbury added one point and 10 assists.

Sarah LaFrance had seven digs.

Brittany Hons had two points, three digs and a kill.

Keon Kopp had three kills.

 

Wyalusing 3, Cowanesque 0

At Cowanesque, on Sept. 17, the Lady Rams swept the match, 25-20, 25-17, 25-17.

Schulze served up 11 points, including four aces. She also had six digs, two assists and a kill.

Christina Hons had eight points, two digs and three assists.

Huffman added six points, two aces, three digs, nine assists and eight kills.

Holdren had six points, two digs, an assist and six kills.

Carr had six points, including five aces, a kill and two blocks.

Morrison had five points, nine digs, four kills and three blocks.

For Cowanesque Valley, Renee Furman had eight points and four aces.

Cowanesque Valley won the junior varsity match, 2-1 (25-20, 22-25, 15-6).

Alyssa Alaniz led Wyalusing with eight points, two aces, five digs and an assist. Christina Jackson added five points, three aces and two kills. Tewksbury had three points, an ace, three assists and four kills.

Szemple had four kills and a block. Madison Eberlin had four assists.

 

Canton 3, Wyalusing 0

At Canton, on Sept. 14, the Lady Warriors swept Wyalusing, 25-19, 25-17 and 25-20.

Dean-Swank led Wyalusing with 10 kills. She joined Holdren with one block each.

Holdren also had four points, three kills and 10 digs.

Huffman added 13 assists, nine digs, four points and five kills.

Christina Hons had six points, including an ace, nine digs, six assists and one kill.

Carr had five points, three digs, an assist, three kills and a block.

Schulze added four points, including an ace, six digs, three assists and three kills.

Morrison had three points, an ace, four digs, two kills and a block.

For Canton, Kellsy Ross served up 17 points and Michaela Galotti added 11 points, including five aces. Bridget Tracy dished out 14 assists. Rachel Holmes made nine kills and three blocks. Macey McMurray made eight digs.

Canton won the junior varsity match, 19-25, 25-15, 15-11.

For Wyalusing, Tewksbury had six points, two aces, a dig, five assists and a kill. Danelle Salsman added three points, an assist and two kills. Brittany Hons had three points, an ace and a kill.
