WVHS Spikers Defeat NEB, Fall at Athens

 

Athens defeated the Wyalusing Valley girls’ volleyball team, 3-1, at Athens on Sept. 27.

The Lady Wildcats won the first game, 25-19. Wyalusing evened the match with a 25-18 win in the second game. Athens closed out the match with 26-24 and 25-21 wins in the next two games.

Erika Huffman and Laci Holdren each had 12 points for Wyalusing, which fell to 3-4. Huffman added four aces, seven digs, 15 kills and 14 assists. Holdren also had two aces, eight digs and three kills.

Christina Hons had eight points, an ace, 11 assists and eight digs.

Erin Dean-Swank had 12 kills and four digs.

Jessica Carr had six points.

Athens was paced by Haleigh Waite’s 14 points and 30 assists. Tori Keagan-Kuykendall had 13 points and 10 digs. Abbie Beck had 12 digs. Jessica Beck had 16 kills and 12 digs. Hillary Crawford added 12 kills and 12 digs.

Athens won the junior varsity match, 2-1 (25-17, 22-25, 15-10).

Alicia Tewksbury had 12 points for Wyalusing. Delana Szemple added five kills.

 

Wyalusing 3, Northeast Bradford 0

At Wyalusing, on Sept. 22, the Lady Rams swept Northeast Bradford, 25-15, 25-23, 25-10.

Holdren led Wyalusing with 11 points and 12 digs. She also had an ace, three assists and a kill.

Hons added 10 points and 10 digs to go along with two aces, six assists and one kill.

Huffman handed out 11 assists and added six points, five digs and six kills.

Elesha Schulze made nine digs. She also had four points, an ace, two assists and two kills.

Dean-Swank made nine kills.

Carr had four points, six digs, six kills and two blocks.

Veronica Morrison made four points, one dig, two kills and a pair of blocks.

JoAnna McGee had three points, three digs and a kill.

Renee Bouch had three digs and an assist.

Northeast Bradford had six points each from Aubri Mosier, Courtney Emick and Mariah Everly. Mosier and Emick each had three kills. Everly added three assists.

Lou-Anne Antisdel had seven digs.

Wyalusing won the junior varsity match in two games, 25-9, 25-11.

Madison Eberlin had nine points, including six aces, for Wyalusing.

Leigh Ann Miller had seven points, four aces and a kill.

Christina Jackson had six points and three digs. Szemple added five points, four digs and three kills.

Danelle Salsman had four points, an ace and an assist.

Brittany Hons made two kills. Gabby Rodgers made five digs.

For Northeast Bradford, Mackenzie Moore had four points, an ace, a kill and two assists. Emily Russell had an ace, as did Abbey Cole and Kayla Russell. Abby Hawley had three digs and a kill. Cassandra DeLoach added a kill.
