WVHS Spikers Stay in Playoff Chase
The Wyalusing Valley girls’ volleyball team defeated Galeton, 3-0, to pull within one victory of qualifying for the District Four, Class A playoffs.
With the victory, the Lady Rams improved to 7-8 with one match remaining, which was played at Wellsboro last night (Oct. 26).
Williamson and Canton have already qualified for the tournament.
At Galeton, on Oct. 20, the Lady Rams swept the match, 25-8, 25-11, 25-12.
Erika Huffman served up 15 points, including eight aces. She also had five digs, four kills and four assists.
Elesha Schulze and Jessica Carr each had nine points. Schulze added four aces and six digs. Carr made two aces and a pair of kills.
Christina Hons and Laci Holdren each had five service points. Hons dished out 11 assists and added two aces and five digs. Holdren made five digs, four kills and two aces.
Erin Dean-Swank made four kills. JoAnna McGee had three kills and two blocks. Paris Allen had two digs. Sara Huffman had three points.
Galeton won the junior varsity match, 2-1 (25-16, 18-25, 15-5).
Bailey Smith and Madison Eberlin each had four points for Wyalusing. Smith also had an ace, two digs and a pair of kills. Eberlin had three assists and a dig.
Christina Jackson, Delana Szemple and Keon Copp each had three points. Jackson added an ace and a kill. Szemple had an ace, two digs, an assist and one kill. Copp had three kills and a block. Alyssa Van Gorder had a block.
