WVHS Thinclads Splash Past North Penn
The toughest opponent the Wyalusing track and field team faced Tuesday was the weather in a dominating sweep over North Penn.
In a meet played in a persistent drizzle and chilly temperatures, the boys defeated North Penn, 115-25, while the girls prevailed 110-31.
In the boys’ meet, Tyler Sutton was a four-time winner, capturing solo victories in the 400 (57.7) and 800 (2:20). He also ran legs on the victorious 3200 relay (9:04.3) and 1600 relay (4:03.5).
Joining him on the 3200 relay were Jordan Knapp, Ryan Hart and Stephan Tewksbury. Stefan Poost, Adam Brigham and Brian Sanger were the other members of the 1600 relay.
Tewksbury added a solo win in the 1600 (5:22.1).
Aaron Johnson and Tucker Allyn were three-time winners, including a victory in the 400 relay (46.7) along with Ryan Miller and Lewis Adams.
Johnson had wins in the 100 (11.8) and 200 (24.4).
Allyn won the javelin (136-8) and high jump (5-10).
Adams added a victory in the long jump (18-0).
Tracey LaFrance won the shot put (37-4) and discus (110-8).
Other winners included Dan Frankenfield in the 110 hurdles (18.1) and Mark Kusmierz in the 3200 (12:05.1).
In the girls’ meet, Alexis Daly, Jessica Hotaling and Kaitlyn Faulkner were four-time winners.
Daly won the javelin (89-7), high jump (4-6) and shot put (30-2). She joined Faulkner, Lindsay Schulze and Kayleen Sutton to win the 400 relay (56.1).
Faulkner added solo wins in the 100 hurdles (17.5), 300 hurdles (55.5) and long jump (13-8.75).
Hotaling won the 100 (13.7), 200 (28.9) and 400 (1:06.2). She also ran the 1600 relay (4:47.6) with JoAnna McGee, Sutton and Erika Huffman.
Schulze added a solo win in the triple jump (29-3). McGee joined Elesha Schulze, Abby Fogel and Huffman to win the 3200 relay (11:22.8).
Huffman won the 800 (2:36.7).
Denae Boyanowski won the discus (71-7).
