WVHS Volleyball: Lady Rams Fall to Troy, Lackawanna Trail

The Wyalusing Valley volleyball team opened its season with a pair of losses.
After losing to Lackawanna Trail, 3-0, at home on Sept. 4, the Lady Rams dropped their Northern Tier League open at Troy, 3-0.
Troy 3, Wyalusing 0
The Lady Rams were in contention in the first two games, losing by competitive 25-19 and 25-23 scores. Troy dominated the third game, 25-10, for the straight-game win.
"In games one and two, it was all about confidence," Wyalusing coach Dave Holdredge said. "We played well, smart and read openings."
Levii Collins and Alyssa Hicks led Troy with 20 and 10 points, respectively.
Stephanie Geisler made 10 kills and four blocks. Christa Calkins and Stephanie Roy each had three digs. Amelia Jenkins had 13 assists.
Wyalusing was paced by Kayla Newhart with 10 points. Katie Doss added eight points.
Doss added four kills and one block. Newhart had four digs, as did Debie Blair, who made four kills. Lindsey Rivera and Blair each had two aces. Renee Casselbury made three assists.
Troy won the junior varsity game, 2-0 (25-22, 25-14).
Trail 3, Wyalusing 0
At Wyalusing, Lackawanna Trail swept the Lady Rams, 25-20, 25-13, 25-16.
Doss led Wyalusing with three points, seven digs and three blocks. She also had four kills.
Casselbury had two points on two aces. She also handed out five assists. Blair also had two points.
Newhart make five kills and five digs. Sammy Baker handed out six assists.
Wyalusing won the junior varsity game, 3-0 (25-17, 28-26, 25-20).
