Warriors Wrapup: Elk Lake Boys' Soccer Falls to NEB

The Elk Lake boys' soccer team started the 2004 season with a 3-0 loss to Northeast Bradford at LeRaysville on Sept. 3.

Northeast Bradford's Jamie Phillipi accounted for all the scoring.

Ben Gallagher and Mark Watkins added assists for the Panthers.

Mark Freeborn made 11 saves against 15 Elk Lake shots.

Elk Lake's Don Sarine faced 23 Northeast Bradford shots.

At Red Maples, on Sept. 2, the Warriors lost a very competitive match with the Wildcats.

Derek Johnston's two-up win over Ken Rizzi was Elk Lake's only individual win.

However, Kirk Lunger and Alex Kipar earned splits with Shawn Haggerty and Steve Devine, respectively. Lunger and Haggerty shared medalist honors with a two-over 35.

Western Wayne's Carly Merring defeated Tim Jones, one-up, and Jeff Weinberger edged Kyle Karpich, two-up. Danny Vogel added a five-and-four win over Christina Richardson.

In better-ball, Lunger and Johnston defeated Haggerty and Rizzi, two-up, for Elk Lake's win.

Merring and Devine defeated Jones and Kipar, one-up, and Weinberger and Vogel downed Karpich and Richardson, two-and-one.
