Wyalusing J.V.'s Hold Off Canton

Craig Ciprich scored two touchdowns and Derek Otis threw for 143 yards and one score as the Wyalusing Valley junior varsity football team defeated Canton, 32-22, on Sept. 7.

The Rams roared out to a 32-0 lead before Canton finally got on the board against Wyalusing's reserves.

After recovering a fumble on the opening kickoff, the Rams scored quickly as Otis found Dan Howard open for a 18-yard touchdown pass.

Howard finished the game with four receptions for 111 yards.

Ciprich scored on a one-yard run and Bryn Duffield added an 11-yard touchdown scamper to give Wyalusing an 18-0 lead through the first quarter.

Ciprich added a three-yard touchdown late in the second period. Duffield added the two-point conversion for a 26-0 halftime lead.

Otis completed Wyalusing's scoring late in the third period on a two-yard run. Jim Chadwick's interception set up the final scoring march.

Canton got on the board late in the third quarter on Bryce Weaver's 50-yard touchdown pass to Brad Castle.

In the fourth quarter, Weaver caught a 39-yard touchdown pass from Mike Donovan.

Canton completed the scoring on Ryan Ballard's 26-yard touchdown reception from Weaver.

Nick Kellogg led a balanced Wyalusing rushing attack with 52 yards on seven carries. Duffield added 44 yards on six runs.

Canton's Chris Ribovich rushed for 81 yards on 19 carries.

Weaver had 187 total yards, including 93 passing and 55 rushing yards.

Wyalusing, now 1-0, will entertain Wellsboro on Monday, Sept. 13, at 6 p.m.
