Patriotic Gathering on Main StreetHere’s a look at a gathering on Main Street at some point during World War I. While it’s not clear exactly what’s taking place, it was likely an event to sell war bonds. One curious note is the white sign just in front of the Wyalusing Hotel, which lists Ira Brown as the owner. Ira Brown was a brother of J. Morgan Brown, who built the hotel and many of Wyalusing’s most prominent buildings. Flags and bunting are displayed on numerous buildings, including on a cable suspended above Main Street. Hanging next to the American Flag is a flag containing 38 stars on a white background. They likely represent the number of Wyalusing area men called to duty.
