Walter Anderson, III

Walter R. Anderson, III of Meshoppen passed away on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 3, 2024 at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre.

Born on Oct. 13, 1954 in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Walter, II and Dorothy Porter Anderson.

Walter was a hard-working man whose professional career began at the Naval Yard in Philadelphia where he worked as a Procurement Officer, before moving north and taking a job with Meshoppen Stone as the Water Distribution Manager. He would remain in that position until his retirement.

He was a member of the Tunkhannock Moose Lodge #1276 and was known as a man who would do anything he could to help someone in need. Most of all, Walter loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Walter is survived by his wife, Susan Anderson; his children, James Gindle (Mary Beth) and Corrine Bulgen (Fabian); his brother, Steven Anderson (Karen); his sister, Dorothy; his grandchildren, James (Keelin), Kristen, Courtney, Brandon, Jayla, Summer, Savannah, Areil, Jordyn, Jaden, Maddeson and Alysa, as well as his great-grandchildren, Addison, Anthony and Averi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter R. Anderson, II and Dorothy Porter Anderson.

A Celebration of Walter’s Life will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8 from the Sheldon Funeral Home, 8206 Main Street, Meshoppen, with Reverend Gary Meyers officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until the time of service.
